LEARNING OUTCOMES
Define health literacy and identify considerations of varying health literacy on health communication campaigns.
Apply communication strategies to improve Patient Provider interaction, improve health outcomes and avoid provider burnout.
Effectively communicate with patients about difficult topics such as pain and opioids and safe alleviation of pain.
HEALTH LITERACY AND CLEAR HEALTH COMMUNICATION
In this course in which we will discuss the basics of health literacy, explore assessment tools and identify the right tools and strategies to apply to meet your clients' unique health communication needs.
PATIENT PROVIDER COMMUNICATION
This course provides an overview of patient-provider communication, with a particular focus on how better communication can improve health outcomes, avoid provider burnout, and increase job satisfaction. It covers the principles of effective patient-provider communication, and provides approaches to improve and practice communication as a skill.
PAIN, OPIOIDS, AND HARD CONVERSATIONS
This course focuses on helping providers better understand the complexities of the conversation, examples of language they can adopt, and reflect an understanding of how these conversations can happen quickly given the realities of clinical care.
