COURSE DESCRIPTION
Welcome to Equity Science, Health Equity and Big Data. In this course, we will be elaborating on the words ‘equity’, ‘science’, and ‘big data’ and examining how they relate to each other. We will review Dr. Johnson-Turbes' definition of ‘equity science’ and evaluate reasons why equity science is important for health communication to advance health equity. In addition, we will outline ways that you can apply inclusive and equitable research in your work and finally discuss the buzz word ‘big data’ and its intersection with equity science and health equity. Lessons learned from this course will help you conduct health communication and multidisciplinary research that advances equity for all people.
