Explain the role that healthcare equity and access plays in the quality of healthcare outcomes for communities of color.

Identify how a culture-centered approach can study health disparity.

Evaluate the role of communication as a tool in addressing health and racial disparities among communities of color.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This one-hour asynchronous course provides an overview of health disparities and health equity. It focuses on how health communication can be a tool for understanding health disparities and promoting health equity. The course also highlights the role and influence of culture in health message design and promotion. Lessons learned from this course will be helpful to those working in public health (designing tailored campaigns) and facilitate healthcare delivery strategies (patient-provider communication).
